Goodyear’s new Air Maintenance Technology (AMT) research is attracting a lot of attention and is sure to be an integral element to the future of tires.
The goal of this research is to create a tire that can regulate it’s own air pressure with a internal self-inflating mechanism and gauge. There are numerous benefits for a self-regulating tire including improved gas mileage and reducing the number of blowouts.
The new AMT technology is being developed at Goodyear’s Innovation Centers in Akron, Ohio and Colmar-Berg, Luxemburg. It has been named “A Most Promising Future Technology” by Car & Driver and has received ample funding from the U.S. Government.
