A new tire pressure monitoring system was revealed from Continental Tire the Americas this week at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY.
The new system is called ContiPressureCheck, and it monitors tire pressure and temperature, while also informing drivers or dispatchers of real-time tire status with warnings for potential problems, says Continental.
“ContiPressureCheck is a unique product that brings together all Continental’s expertise in tires, inflation, in-cab displays, sensors and monitoring technologies for a direct system that not only provides advanced, accurate pressure data, but also addresses fleet concerns about fuel economy and operating cost reductions,” said Clif Armstrong, director of commercial vehicle tire marketing for the Americas.
ContiPressureCheck works by integrating sensors, an advanced telecommunication system, and a powerful data processor into a single tech module that is housed inside of a rubber vessel. Strong adhesive is applied to the vessel and is permanently attached to the inside of the tire, and immediately begins monitoring both air pressure and temperature for the tire. From this point, a wireless communication system sends the tire’s information to the truck’s electronic computer, and if needed, sends an alert to the driver through an in-vehicle monitor.
